A figure shrouded in mystery, The Professor remains an enigma to all, save perhaps Sabertooth. In the Canadian wilderness, in a secret instillation, he was the architect of the Weapon X project, which involved (among other things) the hunting down of other mutants to assassinate.

Wolverine was his prize subject, and the first one to undergo the adamantium bonding procedure. Sabertooth would have been next, but Wolverine escaped and the project was placed on hold. Years later Wolverine was drawn back by a chip implanted in his head, and nearly brought back under the control of the Weapon X program before Kitty shorted out the machines, causing the facility to go nuclear.

It is unknown if The Professor survived the explosion, though it would not be surprising.
