She's a free spirit, part Dharma - part Holly Golightly, part Courtney Love. She views the world as a place needing to "lighten up" and she's just the little pied prankster to lead the way. But her devilish enthusiasm for all things fun has a darker origin - her mean-spirited bum of a father. As a result of this ugly childhood, she doesn't give two thoughts about the consequences of her actions, nor the little wake of destruction she tends to leave behind.

Tabitha started out joining the Institute with the other New Mutants. She even shared a brief romantic interest in Nightcrawler, but she was unable to fit in and follow the rules necessary to become an X-Man. She has since spent a brief time with the boys in the Brotherhood, but she was chased out by Mystique on her return. It seems that she's now a free agent, but she continues to spend time with her friends in the X-Men.

Boom Boom has the ability to create small explosive charges. She can control the size and the delayed release of these charges, allowing her quite a bit a diversity.
